For a lot of old houses, without ethernet runs, its expensive to get ethernet runs around the house. For APs or anything. In that instance, it makes a lot of sense to go with a mesh network. And I think it bears mentioning, that ubiquiti APs are mesh compatible.It is currently only compatible with lowsplit. Ubiquiti needs to address this asap. It needs to go through highsplit certification and they need to work with ISPs to get it functional on both mid and high split services. We also need a UI update as well bringing in the RF stats to the unifi interface. You are correct, you get the 6ghz band that can be used for more speed or a duplex connection. So your device could send and receive at once, like Ethernet. Not as good of course, but a lot better than otherwise. You only need a 2.5gig+ switch to take advantage of WiFi 6e speeds, you will get the benefits of the 6ghz band regardless. While there are currently no signs that the USG will be going EOL anytime soon (it's the main option for Unifi networks for those that don't want the UDM-Pro or the USG-Pro-4) quite often you can tell when units are going to be replaced by what's coming out next.
